Class Experience

In this 3 day camp, we will take a virtual safari in Africa and learn about the many animals that can be seen there.

Each day, we will begin with a check-in activity. We will then learn about the animals that can be seen on an African safari - where they live, what they eat, their adaptations and other facts about them. In total, we will cover 18 different animals.

At the start the camp, I will ask the children what they already know about African animals. We will learn a few facts about Africa and the kinds of animals found on the continent. During these classes, we will cover key vocabulary words, such as classes of vertebrates (mammals, birds, reptiles), different diets (carnivore, herbivore), and more!

My classes are well structured and are discussion-based. We will follow a presentation and have discussions about each animal. We will also complete activities during class and each learner will have the opportunity to share their learning. The children are welcome to ask questions and share their thoughts throughout the class time. The aim of my classes is to provide children with a space where they feel comfortable enough to share their prior knowledge and learn some new things too.

I strive to make my classes as safe and inclusive as possible for all my learners. In my class, all individuals, identities and abilities are welcomed and embraced.
