African Safari Animal Art: Zebra Sketch

In this one-time art course, students will learn drawing techniques to sketch a realistic portrait of a zebra (top of head and part of neck).

Class experience

1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (outline) of a zebra. 
2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast.
3. Students will learn techniques for sketching a stripped pattern on a zebra.
4. Students will learn a few facts about zebras.
Homework Offered
If students do not finish their drawings in class, I encourage to finish outside of class.
Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and sharing of drawings.
Grades Offered
 1 file available upon enrollment
REQUIRED FOR STUDENTS: -Paper (Preferably drawing paper, but if you do not have this, regular paper is fine.) -Pencil -Regular everyday eraser -Pencil sharpener -A printed or electronic copy of the reference photo available upon enrollment (found in the welcome post in the classroom tab) -Blending tool (We will practice blending skills a lot in this class. If you do not have blending stumps, please bring a tissue and/or a Q-Tip. If you are unable to get these supplies, students are fine to use their fingers to blend.) WHAT THE TEACHER WILL BE USING (OPTIONAL): -Drawing paper OR Sketchbook (You can purchase a sketchbook for around $10 on Amazon.) -Wooden pencil -Pencil sharpener -Kneaded eraser (You can purchase a kneaded eraser for around $5 on Amazon.) -Regular everyday eraser -Drawing pencils (You can purchase drawing pencils for around $10 on Amazon.) -Blending stumps (You can purchase blending stumps for around $5 on Amazon.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Please be aware that this course uses materials that may be harmful to your student if used inappropriately.  If you think your student may use any class materials inappropriately and/or potentially cause harm, please provide adult supervision for your student.
