Class experience
In this one-time drawing course, students will learn how to sketch a realistic portrait of a meerkat (full body). What will students learn? 1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (sketch before shading) of a standing meerkat. 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. 1. Students will learn techniques for sketching a proportionate contour drawing (sketch before shading) of a standing meerkat. 2. Students will learn techniques for smooth blending, pencil application, gradient blending, and adding contrast. 3. Students will learn techniques for sketching realistic meerkat fur (dark pattern around eyes, texture, etc.). 4. Students will learn techniques for sketching realistic rocky texture for the meerkat to stand on. 5. Students will learn a few facts about meerkats.
Homework Offered
If students do not finish their drawings in class, I encourage to finish outside of class.Assessments Offered
Students will be assessed throughout class and at the end of class through questions and sharing of drawings.Grades Offered
1 file available upon enrollmentREQUIRED FOR STUDENTS: -Paper (Preferably drawing paper, but if you do not have this, regular paper is fine.) -Pencil -Regular everyday eraser -Pencil sharpener -A printed or electronic copy of the reference photo available upon enrollment (found in the welcome post in the classroom tab. I will have a copy to the reference photo shown on camera the entire class.) -Blending tool (We will practice blending skills a lot in this class. If you do not have blending stumps, please bring a tissue and/or a Q-Tip. If you are unable to get these supplies, students are fine to use their fingers to blend.) WHAT THE TEACHER WILL BE USING (OPTIONAL): -Drawing paper OR Sketchbook (You can purchase a sketchbook for around $10 on Amazon.) -Wooden pencil -Pencil sharpener -Kneaded eraser (You can purchase a kneaded eraser for around $5 on Amazon.) -Regular everyday eraser -Drawing pencils (You can purchase drawing pencils for around $10 on Amazon.) -Blending stumps (You can purchase blending stumps for around $5 on Amazon.)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
