Class Experience

This class is open to everyone regardless of cultural or ethnic background.
This will be a very interactive class. Students will be able to ask questions to clear their doubts. Classes will run for 45 minutes and we’ll cover topics related to countries in Africa, traditional dance styles and modern day interaction with Afrobeats and Afrohouse dances. In my class I prioritize student engagement and learning. Half of the class will be for dealing with the theoretical aspect (history) and the other half will be practical where students will learn the dance for the day. Learners do not need prior experience or knowledge as everything will be taught accordingly. The class will be conducted as follows:
Week 1 : (June 7th,2023 (first class): Topic- Welcome to Africa!
Week 1: (June 9th, 2023)- ( second class) -Introduction to Bata Dance.
Week 2: (June 14th, 2023) (third class)- Say hello to Indlamu Dance.
Week 2: (June 16th, 2023) (fourth class)- Learning Etighi Dance.
Learning Goals

Parental Guidance
Due to the nature of the class we will be performing some physical activities (dance) so I will advise learners to come to class with a bottle of water, they will also need extra workout space to perform some of the dance moves. Most of African traditional dances are best performed barefoot but if your child/ward has tender feet then it is advisable to keep footwear handy for the class.
Supply List
Learners can come to class with notepad and pen/pencil to take information down. Also due to the nature of the class we will be performing some physical activities so I will advise learners to come to class with a bottle of water, they will also need extra workout space to perform some of the dance moves.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I love dancing and I’ve grown more passionate about it over the years, particularly as it relates to cultural dance. I love being African and I’ll like to share our amazing culture around the world. Though I've been dancing all my life, I have 4 years experience teaching it professionally.
