Class Experience

In this one-time class, students will learn the tips and tricks involved in preparing delicious and mouthwatering jollof rice. This dish is packed with flavor and is one of the most popular dishes consumed in many West African countries, such as Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, and Liberia.

At the beginning of the class, we will do a quick review of the required equipment and ingredients for the class. Students should be comfortable using a stovetop and knife or have an adult close by to assist where necessary. I will do a step-by-step demonstration of the cooking process and also check in with students at various stages. I always provide opportunities and encourage students to ask questions. During our cooking session, we will also discuss the origin of the food, variations in its preparation, and how to store it.
For the safety of learners, parental supervision is advised. The class will use a stovetop, knife, hot oil, and hot pot during the cooking process.

I love to cook and experiment with different flavors from around the world. Growing up in Ghana, jollof rice happened to be on the weekly menu in my home and on any special occasion. Currently, I enjoy preparing it for my family and have made it several times for social gatherings.
