Description
Class Experience
I am a black person who has overcome prejudices throughout my life. As a black person, who had a career in Human Resources, I am sensitive to discrimination issues in the workplace and have worked hard in my role to elevate as many minorities as I could. I strive to encourage them and help them advance in their careers. The Black Lives Matters Movement has highlighted the need to be aware of social injustices and discrimination.
Learners will be asked to research a high level discrimination or racial profiling case, write at least 10 sentences about the case and present to the class on week 3. (Anyone besides Travon Martin and George Floyd). Learners will also be given the opportunity to create their own protest sign. The homework assignment is optional.
Paper and pencil. Computer to complete research.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Since this is a sensitive topic and the learners will be conducting research, it is important the parent helps guide the research to avoid graphic or sensitive content that may be too disturbing for your learner.
