This class introduces young children to the role African American Women in Politics. This 30 minute class is broken down into two sections. During the first part of the class we will learn a brief description of the duties and responsibilities of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senator. After section 1 the students will participate in a brain break activity to get them up and moving before starting section 2 of the class. During section 2 we will learn about two important African American Women in Politics. Frist we learn some key information about Shirley Chisholm then we will discuss Kamala Harris. Students will have the chance to color a picture of Kamala Harris as they learn about her.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about two African American Women in politics. Students will learn a brief description of the duties and responsibilities of the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senator.

Over the years I have devoted my personal time to studying African American History. I am a preschool/ Pre-K teacher. I am often asked to develop lesson plans that focus diversity as well as, that introduce historical people from various ethnic backgrounds.
