Description

Class Experience

This is a one time class where we explore the life and bravery of Rosa Parks. In this class we will learn about how Rosa Parks stood up for what she believed in—by sitting down. Rosa Parks inspired a bus boycott after being arrest for refusing to give up her seat  in Montgomery, Alabama. We will be exploring Rosa's early years up to her death and the impact she made on America. 
 
We will be ending class with a  small craft inspired by Parks during class this class!

I am a ESL teacher and tutor and I have mentored over 200 teens over the past 6 years through my nonprofit on diversity and current events and continue to lead open group discussions regarding diversity and inclusion for individuals ages 5-18. I have many years of experience facilitating difficult conversations regarding civil rights and African American History. I am committed to creating a safe non bias space for children to express their thoughts and ideas. I also have my Bachelors Degree in Business Administration and my Masters of Business Administration.

-Construction paper (yellow white and red)
-Scissors 
-Print out which will be mailed 48 hours before class (optional) 
-Coloring materials

In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:National Geographic Kids
Time for Kids

25 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.

Please note students will learn about social injustice, racism, diversity, discrimination and how it affected Parks's journey.
