Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
This class is great for students who want to learn about the life and achievements of Thurgood Marshall, a brave and intelligent man who played a big role in the civil rights movement. In this lesson, students will learn about his early life, career, and how he fought for equal rights as a lawyer and a US Supreme Court Justice. They will learn about how hard he worked to end segregation and get equal rights for all people. They will also learn about why he is an important figure in American history today. Throughout the lesson, we will have discussions about the difficulties he was able to overcome as an African American man, how unfair laws were for people of color, and why people like Thurgood Marshall took a stand to protect people of color. I will talk to students about some of the important court cases he was able to win and how those cases impact America today. This lesson will be interactive, and each student will have an opportunity to share their thoughts.
Sometimes, class may go over 30 minutes as I love to give every student the opportunity to speak in class.
