US Grade 8 - 11
Step into the oval office, where you will become advisors to the president each week for five weeks. You will advise President Truman on actions; he should take on the emerging Soviet Union Threat, President Eisenhower on actions he should take on the Soviet Communist Expansion, President Ford on actions he should take on the financial crisis in New York City; President Clinton on actions that he should take on the Kosovo Crisis; and President Reagan on actions that he should take for economic recovery. The curriculum provides three options that students will look at and discuss. Students will have a glimpse into the deliberation process and see what went into the decision of this historical event. Students will review original documents and photographs from this event. After students discuss and give an opinion on the option they believe should be taken, the actual decision will be revealed. Please note: Students MUST READ background information that is provided BEFORE class. Since the class is discussion-based, we will need to have a minimum to hold the class. We will do four of the five options.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Greetings from North Carolina! I am a homeschool mom of two and a teacher of many. I have a bachelor’s degree with a major in Accounting and a minor in Child Development with over thirty years of teaching experience. I have taught from age three to adult in a variety of subjects. I have taught in the classroom and at educational conferences. I taught in a preschool for ten years and then taught a broad range of subjects for the last twelve years. For the past five years, I have been teaching online where I have taught ESL, AP Art History, High School Economics, History and Social Studies (all grade levels), Elementary Science, Middle and High School Geography, High School Public Speaking, and High School US Government. I especially have loved teaching and exposing students to traditions and customs around the world and about their very own through genealogy classes. I am passionate that education should instill a love of learning first and foremost.
Join me on an exciting adventure as we travel around the United States in my class – The Amazing Race- USA Edition. Or learn what it takes to become a millionaire in Who Wants to Be Millionaire? which is a financial literacy class for middle and high school students. I get to share my love of art, music, and poetry in my Charlotte Mason classes.
When I am not teaching, I enjoy traveling, reading, and scrapbooking. My children and I have visited all one hundred counties in my state, all fifty states in the United States, and many countries. We have had many adventures. I hope you will join me for my next adventure in the classroom.
Most of my classes depend on learner participation and discussion, please let me know ahead of time if you would prefer me to NOT encourage your student to do so.
If you have 4 to 8 students, who want to take a class together, please contact me, and I will try to set that up for you. There is something for everyone!
Please email me with questions. Happy Adventuring!
