In this 2 week camp, we will meet 4 times each week to read a fairy story and complete a related craft.
Class experience
In this story and art camp learners will explore a fairy story and a related project each session. Projects will be inspired by fairy stories created by Daisy Meadows featuring fairies. Session 1: The Red Fairy Learners will make a sweet strawberry treat and hear a story Session 2: The Orange Fairy Learners will make a bubble painting craft and hear a story Session 3: The Yellow Fairy Learners will make a butterfly craft and hear a story Session 4: The Green Fairy Learners will hear a...
Students will explore literacy skills and creativity in this story and art craft. We will work on the following literacy skills: Recognizing and identifying character traits Predicting plot Retelling stories Connecting to real life Active listening and responding We will practice the following life skills: Taking turns Respect Show and share We will practice the following creative skills: Observation Recreation Color recognition and relation Identifying and communicating personal preferences Validating classmates
Homework Offered
Each week will include a project and a story. Some projects may require extra time outside class to prepare or complete the project.Assessments Offered
Grades Offered
Supply list for the next session is posted in the classroom within an hour of the session ending. A link to an active Google Docs supply list will be included in the welcome message.
Some projects may require clean up, use of scissors, or supervision for other materials. Some sessions will require a template or picture to be printed in advance of the session.
This class is inspired by stories and characters from the Rainbow Magic Series by Daisy Meadows.
