This class combines reading comprehension, art, and logic through an interactive exploration of the books in Tracey West’s Dragon Master Series while we explore our own adventure inspired by the Dragon Masters and their Dragons. Each session will include discussion as well as a craft or escape room adventure. It is suggested that learners have read the book in advance of the Adventure session as knowing details from the book will often help solve the challenges and puzzles. TUESDAY...
Learners will explore various types of arts and craft projects and practice reading comprehension, logic, problem solving, and teamwork through the Escape Room Adventures with other readers of Tracey West Dragon Masters books.
Learners are encouraged to read (or have read) the Dragon Masters book we are exploring outside of class to best participate in reading comprehension activities. Some of the art projects may require advance preparation or need to be finished outside of class.
The supply list for the art projects will be posted in the welcome message in the classroom. The ability to switch between tabs and access ZOOM tools (such as breakout rooms, annotate, and chat) will be required for Escape Room Adventures. NOTE: chromebooks and other school supplied devices may not allow access to some of the puzzle resources used during some of the Escape Room Adventures. If possible, learners should join those sessions from a desktop or laptop.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
The Dragon Masters books by Tracey West Although we will not be reading from the books during class, activities are inspired by the plot, characters, and settings of the books.
