Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
Beginner Level
This class will focus on the element of creating writing such as genres, brainstorming, character building, and Events. Students will be able to create their first paragraph of their book and submit for feedback. Each topic has its own week and we will go into depth. I am always available 24/7 and will try to get back to you asap for any questions or assistance even if a 1-on-1 is needed.

Learning Goals

Student will have an understanding of the developing characters

Syllabus

6 Lessons
over 6 Weeks
Lesson 1:
Finding Your Genre
 This lesson will be about exploring and choosing your genre. We will also work on identifying genres of books.

Lesson 2:
Brainstorming
 In this lesson you will be brainstorming. Once you have selected your genre, it is now time to think about a title. we will discuss ways to find influences to name your story

Lesson 3:
Character Building
 You have find your genre and a title now it's time to discuss your characters, who are they, what is their Job, what kind of family did they come. All these things to build you character.

Lesson 4:
The Main Event
 This lesson will be about creating events. we know what our story is going to be about. How can we build events around the book description? How can we make our reader see that this is why you name the book what you name it?

Parental Guidance
Please be advised that students are in control of their own genre, this may include scary/horror or romance.
Supply List
I required that students have pencil and paper.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
we will refer to student's favorite books or show/movies. They will be required to watch or read a few pages of their favorite book or show. If favorite book is not on hand I will provide free resources.
