(Parents of Learners who are interested in classes but require special hours due to time zone please feel free to reach out and I will try to accommodate as best I can.) New and Improved! Welcome one and all to the class that started them all. Here at Adventures in Storytelling, we'll work together in crafting a tale while learning all the ingredients necessary to tell an engaging and meaningful story. Learners will create their own characters and fill them with goals, knowledge, beliefs, and emotions and take these characters through a handcrafted adventure, where they'll decide what conflicts will come about and figure out how their characters will overcome and triumph. On DAY 1, we will give birth to new characters. We'll learn about the Desires, Logic, Faith, and Instincts that go into creating unique and relatable characters through a series of activities that can be as simple as a Madlib or as complex as a character web. On DAY 2, we will take these characters and walk them through the Tower of Chaos. Here our characters will face bigger and bigger conflicts the deeper they go through in hopes to reach their ultimate goal. We'll learn about all the different types of conflicts On Day 3, we'll share the adventures our characters have taken and begin to craft a new adventure for learners to develop on their own. Learners that submit their story before the third day will be given a picturebook template with their story added in so that they can add their own art to their story. By the end of the class, learners will not only have a story they can go and share with friends and family, but the tools to continue their journey as storytellers.
Learning Goals
Learners will learn the key elements to creating characters with proper motivations, beliefs, and understanding of their feelings. They'll also learn how conflict can be used to develop characters to help them achieve their goals within their story.
