In this ongoing course, students will dive in with a certified scuba diving instructor, to learn about different marine ecosystems and the local flora and fauna that live there.
Class experience
I am a dive guide, scuba diving instructor, and marine biologist. I will be taking students on a journey into the blue in a fun and meaningful way while exploring different marine ecosystems, learning about biotic (living) and abiotic (non-living) factors, discussing the importance of biodiversity, a healthy ocean, and conservation efforts to protect and restore the ocean. Students will improve their understanding of different marine ecosystems and learn how to identify key species of plants and animals.
I am a marine biologist and scuba diving instructor. I have 10 years of experience in science communications and have worked many different jobs in the field of marine biology. If your learner is passionate about the ocean and wants to become a marine biologist in the future, they will highly benefit from this class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
My courses focus on ocean optimism, however, some students may be sensitive to images of pollution, overfishing, and degradation of different marine ecosystems.
