Welcome friends! In this full school year program, students will learn letters, letter sounds, basic shapes, colors and much more through monthly themes and crafts!

Class experience

US Grade Preschool - Kindergarten
This class is taught in English.
1. Begin to demonstrate understanding of basic features of print.(ABC's)
2. Demonstrate understanding of spoken words and begin to understand syllables and sounds
3. Recognize and name many upper and lower case letters of the alphabet.
4. Associate many letters with their names and their most frequent sounds
5. Recognize their name in print as well as other familiar print in the environment
6. Follow agreed-upon rules for discussions during group interactions.
7. Begin to describe familiar people, places, things, and events and sometimes with detail.
8. Print many alphabet letters
9. With prompting and support, recall important facts from a familiar text.
10. Actively engage in activities and interactions with teacher and peers

Students will gain confidence in the way they learn and tackling new challenges on their own, at their own pace. No child is the same, and so all students differences and abilities will be accepted and embraced. Students will learn to recognize the alphabet out of order. Begin writing and be able to write uppercase and some lowercase letters. They will identify colors and start forming shapes. Additionally students will learn basic facts about each of our monthly themes that teach about the world we live in!
I've been in education for over 10 years and I taught preschool for 8 of those years so far! I took Childcare and Early Childhood Development and Education at a vocational high school for grades 9-12 and received a CTE skill certificate. I also have my Child Development Associates (CDA) and I’m certified in Pediatric CPR & First Aid. At my last job I was put in charge of the “Strengthening Families” program that helped connect school life with home life through parent-teacher communication and involvement!
Homework Offered
Any homework assigned will be verbal and not mandatory. For example, if we are studying the letter T, at the end of class I may ask the students to look around their homes for something beginning with the letter T or to find something that has the letter T on it. This isn’t really homework, but rather a way for the student to continue learning even after class is over. Worksheets that are related to the day's lesson will also be posted at the end of class for students to complete when they have free time.
0 - 1 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
I won’t do a formal assessment but I will keep a personal log of each students progress. If you would like to know or want me to know what your learner is struggling with or excelling at, I’d be happy to let you know privately. I also offer 1:1 classes for learners who might need a little more help in a specific area or more of a challenge in addition to class. Always feel free to message me about setting up a private session for your learner!
Grades Offered
Students will need basic school supplies:
🔸Crayons/markers (jumbo sizes are perfect for small hands but not required)
🔸Pencils (tri-write & beginners pencils are perfect for first time writers but not required)
🔸Small pack of construction paper
🔶Since we do some letter writing practice as a group, dry erase boards are an easy option to have available but aren’t required! Paper and pencil will work too
🔸Glue (stick and/or liquid)
🔸Safety Scissors
🔸Small container of play dough
🔸Building Material (blocks, Legos, Kinex)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
🔸Some students may need help with Muting/Unmuting so parental guidance will be needed to assist with that.
🔸Anytime a student is handling scissors or glue, I ask that a parent be close by to help when needed.
🔸Most movement activities can be done seated or standing in place, no equipment or special area is required, but during movement activities parents may want to supervise and/or assist to make sure their child is staying safe throughout activity

**CAUTION WHEN CHOOSING PLAY DOUGH**
Play dough may contain wheat, which could cause an allergic reaction if ingested in those sensitive to wheat, gluten or with Celiac Disease. If your child suffers from this allergy please read the label first and feel free to choose an appropriate alternative!
