Class Experience

Everyone is the hero of their own story, they just don't know it yet. This is a fun course designed to give students concepts and practical exercises to build their courage muscles. This will help them through all stages of life. We will explore why we fear things, why we get anxious and interact with those things, give them names, and overcome them!

Teaching kids about courage equips them to live lives that are more confident and teaches them to take healthy risks. It also leads to greater success and a willingness to stand up for what they know to be right.

This course on courage is an experiential leadership program where participants learn how to use their bodies to teach their minds how to let go of fear, in order to take decisive action in complex situations.

Fear affects the choices we make, the actions we take, and the results we have.

The Courage Course provides hands-on learning, demonstrations, and techniques to overcome the fear of failure, fear of change, fear of under-performance, fear of confrontation, and more.

COURAGE, LIKE A MUSCLE, CAN BE TRAINED AND DEVELOPED.

WHAT IS COURAGE?

The word itself is derived from the Latin cor, meaning heart. Maybe courage isn’t as much about heroism as it is about moving in the direction of becoming our best selves: to be connected, contributing members of our community. Sometimes that might manifest as a heroic rescue or a bold and daring act. Most of the time, though, courage is quieter. Courage is welcoming a new neighbor, cooking soup for a friend who is sick, cleaning up the traffic circle, speaking out when a friend is being taunted or hurt, sharing your sandwich with a friend at school who forgot her lunch, or picking up garbage not because you dropped it but because it is the right thing to do.

Week 1: Speak of their brave as though they're already there. ...
Week 2: Give permission for imperfection. ...
Week 3: You won't always feel ready. ...
Week 4: Try something new. ...
Week 5: Be the example. ...
Week 6: And when the motive is brave but the behavior is, let's say, 'unadorable'

Kids will walk away more courageous than when they entered!
