Class Experience

Students will have the opportunity to experience one guided meditation per week. Each meditation will be different, with a unique focus each time. Studies show that meditation can lead to more focus, creativity, happiness, better health, and less stress. Kids are under a lot of stress and anxiety these days, and meditation has proven to be something that can help. At the beginning of each class, I will discuss the theme of the meditation for the day. After that, there will be time for questions from the students. Next, we will begin the guided meditation. I will lead the students through a few minutes of calming and breathing exercises intended to improve the meditation. Then we will dive into the guided meditation which will last 5-10 minutes. Afterward, we will discuss the experience and I will provide an exercise or short meditation for homework. This class is perfect for students who want to improve their focus, relaxation, and general well-being.

Learning Goals

Students will improve their understanding of what meditation is. They will learn that they can become more present and boost their focus through meditation. Students will generate the ability to sit through a full guided meditation and articulate the positive effects afterward.

I have been working with kids as an academic tutor since 2004. In addition to helping kids improve their grades and build confidence, I have found it beneficial to occasionally recommend exercises to my students that can help them improve their focus and limit their stress. I have been meditating for over 20 years, and I've studied with meditation teachers around the world. I recently took an intensive meditation course in Bali, Indonesia in 2017. I have found many benefits to meditation, and I enjoy sharing these benefits with my students.
