I love the Fablehaven series and Brandon Mull as an author in general. This is one of my favorite book series and I am so excited to teach it to young learners. I graduated with a BA in English and Spanish for teaching in secondary school. I have always loved reading and teaching book studies to students of all ages. I have taught English, Spanish, ESL, history and religion classes to students ages 7-18 in the public schools and in private settings. I have taught many book studies to ages 8-17 including but not limited to: The Old Man and the Sea, Lord of the Flies, Where the Red Fern Grows, The Red Badge of Courage, The Great Gatsby, The Call of the Wild, The Outsiders, The Scarlet Letter, Tom Sawyer and others. I am currently teaching a Keeper of the Lost Cities book club on Outschool for ages 10-14. Reading is one of my passions and I love sharing that with my children and my students.
Week 1-- Write down two characters and their characteristics. Week 2-- Write about two creatures in the novels and where we find them in myth and legend No other homework.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
I will give out grades upon request. Grades will be given based on homework and in class participation.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Some of the creatures in the Fablehaven series can be a little frightening for younger readers. This book is geared to upper elementary and middle school students. All my children have enjoyed reading it at any age.
I will have some material from Brandon Mull's website about the books, but all other curriculum will be from the books themselves.
