Class Experience

US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner Level
This course is a self-paced course, meaning there will be *NO LIVE CLASSES*

This American Sign Language Course is designed to help you learn and master basic conversations and lay the foundation for you to build on your vocabulary and fluency over time!

I designed this course to match the way I learned ASL which was by immersing myself in the language and allowing myself to make mistakes along the way.

I have so many deaf friends and friends who are ASL interpreters so I’ve been signing and involved in the deaf community for over 10 years.

🌸Each lesson will start with the vocabulary that will be used throughout that lesson.

🌸Next I will teach you simple phrases and sentences using the vocab you learned.

🌸Then there will be a vocabulary quiz to test your memory

🌸Last, each class will end with some fingerspelling receptivity practice to get you use to seeing things finger spelled and help you learn to finger spell things you may not know the sign for yet.

🌸Part 2 of each lesson will feature a simple conversation using everything you learned in the first lesson. The video will give you time to answer the questions asked, but feel free to pause the video as needed.

🌸Part 2 will also feature a receptivity practice story where I will sign an entire story and you will try to follow it as best as you can! The story will play a second time with subtitles so you can see how much you did or did not understand 😊

Because I feel that immersion is the best way to learn a new language, my videos will mostly be voice off. I’ll voice sometimes but most of the class will be fully signed and will have subtitles to help you!

**Since this is a self-paced class please go at your own pace. Pause the video and replay the video whenever necessary and however many times you need!

✨Don’t worry! “No Live Classes” doesn’t mean no teacher guidance!✨

I will be available anytime you have a question or need assistance! I will also check in weekly with learners to see how things are going and answer any questions you might have.

Please feel free to send me videos as often as you like of your progress and what you’ve learned so far! I’d be happy to offer suggestions and encouragement 😊

**videos are a good way for me to offer helpful suggestions and see your progress but are definitely it a requirement for class!

I cannot wait for you to start your language learning journey! ASL is such a beautiful and expressive language to know and I’m so excited to be a part of your adventure!

🌟if you have any questions or concerns please message me and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can to assist! 🌟
