Join Ms. Emi in Adventure Awaits: Backpacking Basics for New Explorers! This self-paced online course is designed to ignite a passion for the great outdoors while equipping young adventurers with essential skills for safe and responsible backpacking. This is a one time, self-paced course that will take you through the basics of backpacking from choosing gear to hitting the trail. Throughout the course, students will explore: Leave No Trace Principles: Learn how to protect nature and minimize their impact on the environment. The 10 Essentials: Discover the must-have gear for any backpacking trip and how to use each item effectively. Packing Tips: Understand how to pack efficiently and what to include for different types of trips. Choosing the Right Trail: Gain insights into selecting appropriate trails based on skill level and interests. Safety and Navigation: Familiarize themselves with basic navigation techniques and safety practices to ensure a fun and secure outdoor experience.

Ms. Emi is a teacher who also loves the outdoors. She has experience solo backpacking in Colorado, on the Appalachian Trail, and more. She also has experience hiking and backpacking with her 4 kids. As a former outdoor recreation specialist at Lake Metroparks (OH), Ms. Emi has worked with kids of all ages and enjoys encouraging others to experience the great outdoors!Reviews
