Class Experience

Read alouds are a nice way to blend together a reading experience for students of all reading levels. During read alouds, students are able to practice their listening and conversation skills. Being a part of a read aloud allows students to apply reading skills such as connections, predictions, inferences, and retelling. Read alouds also allow students to increase their exposure to new vocabulary and build upon their comprehension skills. If you would like to explore more, I encourage you to check out the following website--although it refers to "big kids", the benefits still apply to younger students and has a great list of some of the benefits that come with read alouds!
I believe you are never too old for a picture book and given my experience, I have a broad knowledge of finding the right book for students. I definitely have an animated and enthusiastic reading style to make the story fun and engaging and at times will incorporate props, stuffed animals, or other materials to enhance the story experience. The benefits of read alouds are immeasurable and they are something I have been doing throughout my years as an educator.
No homework is assigned.
I will utilize the classroom posts section within Outschool to upload different activities or websites, when applicable to the books read during our club!
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Please note that children's literature does include a variety of topics and subjects so if you have a particular concern, please let me know and I will take note of that when planning my book selections. With my classroom teacher experience and my work as an elementary school librarian, I will choose books that have been successful and enjoyed by my students! I love finding funny and kid-approved books!
