Homework
1 hour per week. Learners will have enrichment activities to work on, shorter essays, and a final REHUGO project they will be working on throughout the course.
Assessment
Written and video feedback is provided throughout the course if the learner turns in their essays.
Letter Grade
No formal grade will be given unless parents request it. If so, I will grade the learner via rubrics designed for the course writing assignments. Learners will also be provided rubrics to guide them. If you want a grade for your learner, just let me know!

 This lesson goes through the steps of compiling a Works Cited page and is a continuation of the lesson two essay writing process

 Using the Civil Rights Movement and a photograph, this lesson guides learners through the complete analysis essay writing process

Other Details

Pre-Requisites
It is highly recommended that your learner has a background in MLA formatting and citing for this course.
Supply List
Handouts, outlines, and rubrics will be provided for this class.  Learners should have access to a writing utensil, notebook paper, and typing software such as Google Docs or Word to ensure learners know how to properly set up and type a document in MLA format.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

I have been teaching literature and writing to teens for over 25 years. I hold Bachelor’s Degrees in English, Writing, and Secondary Education, as well as a current teaching license. In 2005, I earned a Master’s Degree in Education and continue to take professional development courses annually to refine my teaching practices and stay current with educational trends and new teaching methods. Alongside my work with pre-teens and teens, I am also an English professor at the university level, where I teach writing and literature courses.

During my 21 years as a high school English teacher, I was proud to help our sophomore students consistently achieve the highest reading and writing scores in the state. My teaching approach focuses on building a strong foundation by breaking the writing process into small, manageable steps. I am super patient and encouraging with my feedback and guidance, ensuring students feel supported and confident as they grow in their writing abilities.
