Advanced Level
In this four-week-long course, students will focus on paragraph writing. Each week the class will consist of partial lecture to explain the writing style and writing task. Students will be given a weekly assignment that will have the option to fill out a Graphic Organizer for their ideas. Students will also be given example paragraphs to help guide them through the process. This class is a great next step for students who have learned the "Hamburger Paragraph" method, but would like to advance their skills to more complex and formal writing for an advanced middle or high school setting. What This Course Includes: -An overview of four styles of writing: Narrative/Personal, Summary, Persuasive, Compare/Contrast -4 Different Paragraph Writings -Getting Teacher Feedback on Your Writing For Homework (about 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on the student) -Writing the Weekly Paragraph Week 1: Narrative/Personal Week 2: Summary Week 3: Persuasive Week 4: Compare/Contrast
Learning Goals
Students should come away from this class with an understanding of the four different types of writing, and how to craft a Powerful Paragraph.
