Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 5
During class, learners will engage in a variety of writing. In a small group setting, learners will be introduced to the writing process through different types of writing, have some writing time, share their writing with me and their peers, and receive positive feedback and writing tips!

Class will begin with an icebreaker and be introduced to the prompt. We will brainstorm ideas and complete a plan for our writing.

Then, we will have a mini lesson and draft our writing.

If time allows, we will practice editing and revising our work, sharing our work with others, and discussing Glows (what we did well) and Grows (something we can improve).

Learners will write about a wide variety of topics, such as fun seasonal writing, building self confidence, descriptions, opinions, and picture prompts! Learners will write stories, information, and persuasive! This class is wonderful for both the reluctant writer and the child who loves to write. If learners run into "writer's block", we have a quick conversation about the prompt and that will help them get their thoughts on paper.

Learners will engage in conversation, listening, and feedback. By the end of this class, students will confidently write clear, organized, and engaging narratives, informational pieces, and opinion essays. They will develop their writing voice, learn to communicate ideas effectively, and build a solid foundation for future academic and creative writing!
