In this 14-week online course, students will advance their singing technique and musicianship skills, building upon the foundation they laid in Beginning Voice and the skills they acquired in Intermediate Voice
Class experience
We will learn with exercises, songs, and games. Students will sing with correct posture, belly breathing, and supported long tones in both head voice and chest voice. Students will learn to keep a steady beat in 4/4, 3/4, 2/4, 6/8 time signatures and sing triplets and syncopated rhythms. Students will learn to read rhythmic notations (quarter notes, eighth notes, half notes, quarter rests) Students will learn how to prepare a song for performance with others. Students will learn singing and musicianship in the following areas: Ear-Training: -Matching pitches over one octave between middle C and high C -Sing back melodic sequences with the solfege syllables Do, Re, Mi, Fa, So, La, Ti Sing a song in chest voice(keys of C and D) and head voice(key of F and G). Rhythm: -Clap or step to the beat of beginning-level songs -repeat back rhythm sequences with triplets and syncopation. Sight-Reading -melodies with chromatic half-steps and larger leaps -introduction to harmony parts Technique: -Erect yet relaxed posture -Belly breathing -Increased ability to sustain a tone -High-voice and low-voice registers Performance of solo and group songs for the class
