In this class we will work on more advanced subtraction. We will talk about borrowing and being able to subtract up to 3 to 5 digit numbers. I will show the children my ways of lining up the numbers and breaking down the problems to make it a bit easier to understand. I encourage kids as they are just beginning to use things like counters and blocks to visualize the numbers. I try and teach in multiple learning styles such as visual (they will watch me do it), auditory (they will hear me talk them through each step), reading/ writing (they will write out the problems themselves), and kinesthetic (they can use manipulatives to work through the problem)

Hi my name is Cassi Gardei. I am a mother of 4 awesome kids, 1 girl and 3 boys. I was a preschool teacher for 6 years in a brick and mortar school and was a professional driving instructor for the state of California for 4 years until Covid hit. I have been working with Outschool since Covid started and am a resource teacher for elementary school in California. Working with children is my passion and helping them learn and understand everything in new and exciting ways, especially with music for the younger kiddos. I have a bachelor's degree in Mild to Moderate Special Education and am going back to school for my masters degree in English Language Learners.
I am looking forward to working with your kids in many areas. My favorite subjects were math and science growing up but I teach a multitude of classes from cooking to preschool to core subjects and even Kahoot games. Please do not hesitate to ask me anything, anytime, it comes straight to my phone and I will respond as soon as I can.
