Reading about science and animals assures we will encounter new words to challenge your student and teach new vocabulary. Students will use their skills to decode more challenging words and build the confidence to read any word, read challenging scientific words and learn new animal facts. The "fry" 1000 word list will be used. It is included in PDF upon enrolling so that you can practice at home. Here is a sample list of animals they have to choose from: owls, squirrels, dolphins, whales, penguins, pandas, bears, bees, moths, wasps, dogs, wolves, cats, flamingos, peacocks, polar bears, jellyfish, turkeys, cheetahs, lions, leopards, horses, dragonflies, caterpillars, hedgehogs, hamsters, stingrays, giraffes, polar bears, pigs, turtles, koalas, kangaroos and so many more. Subject schedule (subject to change) Week of Feb 3oth: Mon class: Dinosaurs (are there any living?) Tuesday class: great white sharks/platypus/deadly snakes Week of Feb 6th: Insects (what characteristics does an insect have) Week of Feb 13: Aquatic Animals (some are mammals, some are not) + Your choice animal!
