Unlock the power of reading with 'The Phonics First Aid' Reading Class – a comprehensive reading class that utilizes a curriculum designed to transform the way children learn to read. This class is a COMPLETE and thorough class that will provide a solid foundation in phonics, the heartbeat of literacy. With an easy-to-follow structure, 'The Phonics First Aid' class serves as a lifeline for learners seeking a tried and true phonetic approach to reading. Step by step, learners are introduced to phonetic principles and effective reading strategies. You will receive a Weekly Video Lesson where you will be taught a new reading skill and then given directions on how to practice the skill during the week. ***Your child can advance through the class as quickly as they are able. So, this class could take up to 8 weeks, but you may see that your child can move through it in half the time. All the resources needed will be sent to you up front.*** We will cover the following skills each week: Lesson 1: Short Vowels Lesson 2: Two Vowel Walking Rule Lesson 3: Sneaky E Rule Lesson 4: Consonant Digraphs-sh, th, wh Lesson 5: Consonant Digraphs continued-ch, ph Lesson 6: Invisible Letters Lesson 7: Diphthongs-oi, oy, au, aw Lesson 8: R-controlled Lesson 9: Soft C & G Lesson 10: Sounds of a & y Lesson 11: Sounds of ea Lesson 12: ind, ild, old Lesson 13: igh Lesson 14: le at the end Lesson 15: ould Lesson 16: ought Lesson 17: ed, ing Lesson 18: tion, sion Lesson 19: Review and Certificate Parents will receive downloadable materials for the class including flashcards, word lists and readers. The retail value of the materials alone makes this class a great deal! This phonics and reading class stands out for its innovative approach to learning. Each vowel and grapheme, which represents a special reading rule, is complemented by a visual aid—a picture clue that cleverly incorporates the specific letter or letters responsible for producing each sound. For instance, a picture featuring a pirate creatively integrates the letters 'ar' to help children remember that 'ar' makes the /ar/ sound, evoking the connection between the letters and the sound they represent in a memorable and engaging way. Pre-requisite: Before beginning this class, students should have knowledge of letters and sounds. If not, you may choose my Phonics First Basic Letter Sounds class first. A notes from the Teacher: Dear Parent(s), Thank you for considering this Phonics First Aid Class. I firmly believe, and the research shows, that phonics instruction is the very best way to teach children how to read. Building a solid foundation will insure children do not have holes left and don’t advance in grade level while leaving their reading level behind. This class was created after over twenty years of teaching children to read. It works, and I hope that it will be a blessing to your child. Happy Reading, Kathy Hutto
