Dissociative identity disorder (DID), previously known as multiple personality disorder, is a chronic mental health condition where a person has two or more distinct identities that control their behavior at different time. In this class, we will take a deep dive into this condition. Please see the syllabus for all the details about what we'll cover. I will teach the class with lecture slides, hands-on activities, and games. In my classes there are lots of ways to participate. Learners can raise their hands to speak, use the chat, or listen and observe. I encourage learners to participate in whichever ways they feel comfortable.
Learning Goals
Learn the symptoms, causes, and treatment for DID.
Practice critical thinking skills.
Syllabus

over 2 WeeksLesson 1:
Dissociative Identity Disorder (part 1)
In the first lesson, we will cover the symptoms and causes of DID. We will learn how to write an in-depth case study through guided questions. We will also cover several scientific research articles on DID. I will show learners how we read scientific articles and extract information. We will practice this skill together. We will end our class with a review game.
90 mins online live lesson
Lesson 2:
Dissociative Identity Disorder (part 2)
In the second lesson, we will begin with a short review of what we discussed last class. We will then examine several clinical case studies from scientific literature to demonstrate the different approaches to treating DID. We will compare real-life cases of DID with fictionalized cases in movies/tv shows. We will end our class with a review game.
