Class Experience
"Advanced PSAT Prep for the National Merit Scholarship" is an ongoing class that students can join at any time to get ready for this important test. This class is specifically designed for students who are already high achievers and want to push themselves to earn a National Merit Scholarship when they take the PSAT in October. Students should select this class only if they have set a goal of earning a National Merit Scholarship. The cutoff score varies from year to year and state to state, but students should aim to get as close as they can to a 1500 on the PSAT.
About the Teacher: Passionate about helping her students achieve their college dreams by being their coach and cheerleader as they prep for the SAT and ACT, Heather Krey is an experienced instructor with teaching certificates in math, physics, chemistry, and English. She knows the best tips and strategies for these tests – and she also understands that students need encouragement and practice to do their best. With dual bachelor's degrees in industrial engineering and psychology from Lehigh University, she also holds masters of education degrees in mathematics from DeSales University and in teaching from Kutztown University. Heather lives in Allentown, PA, with her husband and three children.
Since this is an advanced class, I will push these students to do their best! I plan to assign one full practice SAT per week, which should be completed on the Bluebook App. The CollegeBoard one released one practice digital PSAT, and students will have a chance to take this test as a part of our class.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
Student progress will be monitored by taking weekly practice tests.
