This class will is for math lovers, gifted and advanced students who have completed elementary school level mathematics. It will prepare the student for Algebra 1. The Art of Problem Solving text books focus on learning the material by solving challenging problems. Each class we will work through problems together. Students will be encouraged to participate. After class students will have some homework problems to solve on their own. We will review the homework problems at the start of each...
This is part 1 of a 4 part course. After completing all 4 parts, the student will be ready for Algebra 1.
I have a masters degree in Biomedical Engineering and experience teaching math at the community college level. I was a member of the Mu Alpha Theta math team as a child and have been a math lover all my life.
Homework problems from the text will be assigned after each class.
Learners will be required to purchase the Art of Problem Solving Prealgebra textbook available as a hardcopy or digital version: https://artofproblemsolving.com/store/book/prealgebra
A quiz will be given at the end of each chapter. If requested, a course grade will be calculated based on class participation, homework and quizzes.
