In this class your learner will learn more advanced hands on preschool math skills to get them ready for kindergarten. Simple addition, subtraction, 3-D shapes, graphing and data are just a few of the skills that will be introuduced.
Class experience
This is a 6 week class that meets two times a week. Students in this class need to have basic math preschool skills such as knowing numbers 1-10, basic 2-D shapes, introduction to more and less. I do have a beginners to class however it is not required to take this class. This class is a hands on class. Class One- More or Less Part One Today we will start class with teddy bear comparing numbers. Each student will have a work mat. Ms. Lauren will be showing them two different numbers....
Students will be able to describe the strategy they used to determine more or less. Students will identify whether the number of objects in one group is more than, less than, or equal to the number of objects in another group by using counting and matching strategies. Students will be able to compare one-digit numbers, using the symbols for greater than, less than, and equal to. Students will be able to add single-digit numbers together. Understands subtraction as removing or hiding objects. Students will be able to solve subtraction problems with single-digit numbers. Students will be able to identify 3D shapes in objects they use in their daily lives.
Parents Ms, Lauren does encourge parens to use what you have at home. So if you do not eat the following snack items we use them as counters for counting please feel free to make substitutions. Ms. Lauren is avaiable to answer all questions about supplies at any time. You will also get much more detailed information inside of the classroom. Class One- You can either use Teddy Grahams or if you have Teddy Bear Counters for the activity today. Class Four- 3 plastic cups Scissors Markers or Crayons All worksheets and activity pages can be found in the classroom. Class Five- Scissors Markers or Crayons Pencil All worksheets and activity pages can be found in the classroom. Class Six- Counter from class five Scissors Markers or Crayons 20 clothespins. Color the 10s of 10 blue and 10 red with markers. Pencil All worksheets and activity pages can be found in the classroom. Class Seven- Scissors Markers or Crayons Pencil All worksheets and activity pages can be found in the classroom. Class Eight- Scissors Markers or Crayons Teddy bear counters or teddy grahams 2 containers of playdough All worksheets and activity pages can be found in the classroom. Class Nine- Scissors Markers or Crayons Pencil All worksheets and activity pages can be found in the classroom. Class Ten- Scissors Markers or Crayons Pencil Students need 10 different pieces of a fruity o's type of cereal. All worksheets and activity pages can be found in the classroom. Class Eleven- Scissors Markers or Crayons 2 or 3 Cube cheese 2 or 3 Marshmallows 2 o 3 Bugle shaped snack 2 or 3 Cheese Puffs 2 or 3 Chocolate wafer cookies For the snacks listed above you may substitute if needed. Scissors will be used for a few activities in this class. Please use parent supervision. Ms. Lauren usually will ask that cutting activities be done before class. This is to allow parents to assist students if needed.
