This class is for students who have taken basic drawing courses and are interested in furthering their art skills by learning more advanced drawing techniques. Students will learn advanced shading techniques such as cross-hatching and pointillism. They will also further their expertise with graphite pencils while developing skills with charcoal pencils as well. Students will then further their drawing expertise by learning how to shade with color using either chalk pastels, oil pastels or colored pencils. Finally they will learn how to hear and give constructive feedback on artwork via group critiques. Week One: Advanced Shading- In this lesson we will learn 2 new shading techniques that we will then apply to 2 drawings. Week Two: Principles of Art-This lesson will discuss how to construct a beautiful piece of artwork using elements and principles of design. These techniques will then be applied to a new drawing that students will design themselves. Week Three: Using Charcoal- In this lesson we will go over the basics of using charcoal to create beautiful and lifelike works of art. Students will then create a new work of art using only charcoal. Week Four: Adding Color-This lesson is all about color theory and how to use its principles to bring your pictures to life with vibrant colors. Students will use what they learn on a still life of a fruit bowl. Week Five: Proportions-This lesson will teach you all about the proportions of humans compared to each other and other objects/animals. Students will then be required to create an image incorporating multiple different sized objects and people within it. Teacher expertise and credentials
Idaho Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
My name is Ashley Kaye I am an artist with years of teaching in the public school system under my belt. I have built multiple art programs from the ground up and I believe that anyone can be an artist if they have the right training. In my years of teaching art I have seen timid students blossom into wonderful artists with the help of the right tools. There has never been a student that I couldn't teach, and I don't believe in giving up until we get it right.
I teach group classes on digital and traditional art as well as private art lessons. Want a specific time for a lesson or class? Just shoot me a message and I'll do my best to make it happen.
I adore Godzilla (probably to an unhealthy extent) and I live in Idaho with my husband, three beautiful kids, six chickens, the world's most ridiculous cat and a fat lazy German Shepard named Lucky.
