Class Experience

This is a project based class series where students will learn by doing.

Students MUST have experience on Scratch coding before signing up for this class.

What will be taught?
Students will learn to code using script in the Python Coding language, which is used widely by companies such as Netflix, Facebook, Dropbox, Microsoft.

In class, we will will drag and drop code, debug Python code that’s already been written, write new Python code, and learn programming vocabulary all while making games and animations. We will also read written code to figure out the output.

This series is broken into individual lessons.
Day #1- Welcome and Lesson 1- The coordinate plane and ordered pairs
Day#2- Variables and parameters
Day #3 -Games
Day #4- Random numbers
Day #5 - Math and Computation
Day #6- Dialogue
Day #7 -Games
Day #8 -Variables
Day #9- Games
Day #10 - Functions

How is the class structured?

Well will use a well rounded curriculum to learn using step by step instructions. We will use an outside platform which is included as part of the class fee. Students do a big project at the end of each class. This series is part of my pathway to Python certification series which is 10 levels and helps to prepare students aspiring to obtain the MTA Python certification.
Students may be required up to 1 hour per week of homework outside of class. The teacher will be available for questions or help in between classes.

****NOTE For students with prior experience: My classes will be very different from any Python class that you have taken before because I will focus on learning concepts through a learning platform. The entire class is conducted in a learning environment****

How do I teach?
During our class, we will complete one lesson and a big project using the knowledge learned in class. If students don't finish their projects during class, they will be asked to finish their project for homework.

What's my teaching style?
I am fun, talkative, and engaging. I love having fun and asking my students to participate if they are comfortable doing so.

How much will learners get to interact with you and each other?
Students will not have access to the chat option. All participation is done using the mic. Students will be able to view each other’s projects in our curriculum platform.

***Any required experience or knowledge learners need?**
**Learners must have taken Scratch or other block coding language classes before taking this class. No exceptions can be made as students will need to know the basics of coding to be successful in this class.**
