Class Experience

Do you feel as though you need to be challenged? Are you preparing to make your school team? This class will get you there and have you leaving with a new-found confidence. Sports are 90% mental and 10% skill. We will make sure to enhance both during this
4-week course. Students will learn how to add to the foundation and forced to tap into unknown potential. Students will receive a drill demonstration through visual and verbal cues and then will be asked to repeat the same drill for a timed interval. Students will have the ability to ask questions, participate in games and small competitions at the end of each week to tie everything together. Students will leave class with tangible techniques and skills they can use at their upcoming tryouts or travel ball season. Take your game higher!

Learning Goals

Students will improve their hand-eye coordination, improve speed and agility, conditioning, learn terminology, and have a collection of drills they can use to continue improving.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Players will need to be dressed in athletic gear, including sneakers. They will also need a basketball, a water bottle, and any other items necessary for comfort (i.e. towel). Players will also need an open area, free of clutter or any objects that could cause harm to them or someone else. The floor will need to be completely clear and I suggest a 8 ft x 8ft space. Because there will be opportunities to actually dribble the ball, they will need a hard surface to use at some point during the class. Ideally, I suggest the drive way, sidewalk, garage or patio area. If outside, players will need sunscreen and/or a hat.
Supply List
Students will always need a basketball and from time to time an additional basketball and tennis ball as well.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a former D-1 and professional basketball player from Philadelphia, PA. A graduate of Germantown Academy, who at the time was #12 in the nation, I continued my collegiate career at Bucknell University before playing overseas. While overseas, I had the privilege of playing in Germany, Romania, Greece, France and Belgium.

While in Germany, I organized and coached a 10u and 13u team that went on to win the National Championship in our second year. I have had the privilege of coaching boys and girls ranging from elementary school up to the collegiate and recently professional level. With over 10 years of coaching experience, I am a USA Youth Basketball Certified coach, current Varisty High School coach and professional trainer.

My passion to teach has always been my driving force. The sheer joy on a students face when they accomplish a goal excites me even more. Success can be measured in many different ways, but for me, it is when a student realizes their potential and I am able to give them the necessary tools to start tapping into it and utilizing that potential.

I look forward to the opportunity to share my experience with you.
