This course is for students who have completed our Code & Create 3D Worlds for VR/AR, Animation, and Game Design course, or who have used CoSpaces Edu before. In this course students will build on their knowledge of 3D modelling and coding to create more engaging and immersive 3D experiences in animation, game design, and Virtual/Augmented Reality. Each week students will be introduced to new concepts and given challenges to complete, using supplied resources. There will be group collaboration on projects which students can share with friends & family. Slides and videos are sometimes used to support learning, but the focus is on learning through doing. This is a creative course which gives students room to play and aims to build their digital fluency, intuition, and skills. Week 1: Game Design - use variables & control structures to build a 3D game Week 2: Spawning particles & A.I. with functions Week 3: Hacking 3D models - learn to cut, stretch, & pull models Week 4: Pushing the limits - breaking boundaries & enforcing controls Week 5: Group challenge - recreate arcade games in 3D Week 6: Creating explosions - learn to create explosions with Javascript
Learning Goals
Students will advance their knowledge of working in a digital 3D environment, manipulating 3D objects, coding, and combining these to create something which is engaging or useful. They will:
1. Learn to code using functions, variables, global variables, and control structures, and apply this knowledge to 3D content creation
2. Learn and use intermediate 3D modelling concepts, such as extrusion
3. Learn Game Design theory, and apply this to 3D game creation
4. Learn how text-based coding languages are used, and learn some basic Javascript coding.
5. Collaborate with others to produce a 3D gameOther Details
