Each week-long segment will focus on a specific Tinkercad skill and build to an exciting design challenge. Students will work through the design process at their own pace, building from idea to printable model. Throughout the course students will have access to Mr. Cohen's support through message or if needed we can schedule a quick Zoom meeting. Each student's creations will be featured in a Tinkercad showcase where students can share their designs with their peers. Important: This is the advanced class designed to follow my "So You Bought a 3D Printer, Now What? Getting the Most From a New 3D Printer" course. https://outschool.com/classes/so-you-bought-a-3d-printer-now-what-getting-the-most-from-a-new-3d-printer-UCmU4gi8 Students MUST complete the introduction course prior to enrolling in this class. Please contact me on Outschool if you have any questions. Weekly Agenda Week 1 Multi-Color 3D Prints with a single nozzle This week’s challenge will feature the creation of dual-color keychains that require only a single 3D printer nozzle. By using a series of modifications in the slicer we can tell the printer to pause at specific layers so that we can switch colors and create some incredible prints. Week 2 Flexible Models Everyone loves 3D printed flexible models such as the dinosaur Flexi-Rex but are you ready to design your own flexible model? This week’s challenge will involve taking any 2D image and transforming it into a print-in-place 3D print just like Flexi-Rex! Week 3 Wall Art This week we will learn how to take a small 3D print design and break it into pieces ready to be turned into dramatic wall art. During this week’s challenge students will find a piece of art work and modify the design in Tinkercad to prepare it to be successfully printed in multiple parts. Week 4 Designing Vase Mode Prints This week we will create our own designs ready to be printed with a single outer wall known as “Vase Mode” or “Spiralize Outer Contour”. Almost any shape can be turned into a pattern that will look amazing as a 3D printed vase that can be used as a pencil cup, candy bowl or even filled with 3D printed flowers!

3D printing has been one of my personal passions for more than a decade. In my in-person classroom 3D printing and computer aided design were key parts of my curriculum. Since joining Outschool I have helped hundreds of students get the most out of their 3D printers.
