I have been teaching dance for the past 3 years, and I have taught beginner/intermediate level dance in Ballet, Tap, Jazz and Lyrical. In addition, I have choreographed many middle school productions. I also will have a minor in dance, Early Childhood Education and a BA in Psychology by this December.
I do recommend each child to have something that can take place as a "Ballet Barre" such as a chair, door knob or door handle or the end/bottom of a banister (If one can not use these items, they can use the center floor). I also recommend having a tennis ball or a ball around the size of it 4-5 inches round object (This item will be used to practice proper hand technique) and a piece of paper and a writing utensil to write down for the history/terminology portion of class.
