Description
Class Experience
My entire career has been spent managing money of companies (big and small) and volunteering to help people with budget creation and management for the last 20 years. I speak often about children and money; and have a passion for ensuring the next generation is better prepared for their financial life than generations prior.
BASIC calculator (should be available during class) Paper for note-taking during video lectures Writing utensil Access to the internet (home or library) to look up information for homework assignments and watch videos (on Vimeo). Students will SOMETIMES be given links to help for research, but will often have to find information themselves (which is part of their learning process)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
Parents should know that the career students choose to work through during the course will teach them a lot about what they think life will be like with their chosen career. The goal is for the students to see the impact of decisions. Sometimes, they learn through this course that the path they desire comes with some life impacts they won't enjoy! I ask that parents be open-minded about their students choices during the course. Parents should be open to hearing information on topics that they may or may not have been exposed to in their financial life. I am always available by e-mail to clarify anything that may sound "off" coming from your student--but I HEAVILY encourage families to discuss course topics at home once they are covered in class!
