Hi! Welcome to adulthood... Or at least preparing for it! Over the course of 10-weeks, we will learn the following: Day 1 - Jobs & Budgeting There are so many job opportunities in life! The first week will be spent on job opportunities available in the world and which ones may be an interest to you. We will talk about examining strengths, weaknesses, passions and lifestyle. We will discuss why this is important to do while choosing a major or job after high school. Students will 'choose' a...
Students will gain a better understanding of the skill set utilized throughout adulthood. Students will go away from this class with real world knowledge to implement into their own lives.
Individual homework will be assigned at the end of each class. Homework will be based off of the topics of discussion for that class. It should take 20-30 minutes depending on the day.
Students will need access to Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets during Day 1 (preferability on a separate screen then Zoom). Students will also need pen and paper for each class.
9 hours 10 minutes per week in class, and no time outside of class.
We will be discussing personal finance at a hypothetical level. I will be sharing average incomes of different professions as well as average rent, mortgage, bills and utilities based off of certain areas. As a reminder, students will never be asked to share anything of their own personal finances; however, for this course students will choose a profession and base their budgets off of that.
