Welcome my fellow historians! In this class, we are going to critically examine the role of Adolf Hitler as the leader of Germany. We will look at his use of propaganda, fear, and complete control and consider the impacts of his dictatorship in Germany. Most importantly we will look at his flaws as a leader which led to the fall of Nazi Germany and the defeat of the German army once again. Here are some of the questions we will work to answer in this class together? - Did Hitler have the support of the people or was fear the driving force behind his popularity? - Was Germany doomed to lose World War Two, or was Hitler's role as a military leader to blame? - Was the Nazi ideology that Hitler created too exclusive to be long-lasting? - Did Hitler's greed for power ruin his ability to successfully change everyday life for Germans? - After the war, how do you convince the German people of Hitler's flaws when they have been continually fed positive propaganda? This class will incorporate lesson materials (background information) and discussion questions to create engaging discussions between students. Students should have some general knowledge of Hitler's leadership in Germany but by no means have to be an expert as I will provide background information and evidence so that every student can participate. If you are interested in Hitler's rise to power and the details of his personal life, please check out my three-part course 'WWII History: Dictators of World War Two' https://outschool.com/classes/wwii-history-dictators-of-world-war-two-xH5Yic4b#us9wS1by9C
