Class Experience

Homeschooling teens will have an opportunity to have discussions about adjusting to homeschooling life with their peers.

I will facilitate constructive conversations that will inspire learners to do their best and be their best. I want to help learners see that they are not alone as they go through their homeschooling journey. Maybe they will meet a friend here.

I will ask questions to initiate the conversation and encourage students to have a purposeful dialogue with myself and other learners.

Example Conversation Starters:

"How was your week?"
"What were your highs and lows related to homeschooling?"
"What is working for you right now?"
"What isn't working so well?"
"What can you do to improve it?"
"What is your homeschooling routine or schedule like?"
"What are some of your favorite subjects or hobbies?"
"Do you have a homeschooling goal for this week?" "If not, let's create one and follow up next week."

My Teaching Style & Structure:

I encourage student participation, listen to others, and be respectful towards each other. Students will have plenty of opportunities to ask me questions about adjusting to homeschooling.

Prior Knowledge:

Students will not need any prior knowledge before taking this class. Still, a desire and willingness to discuss their homeschooling experiences will help them practice their conversation skills and learn from others.

Learning Goals

Students will learn how to implement strategies that will help them to have a positive perspective and become active contributors to their homeschooling success.

Students Will Be Encouraged To:

1. Take some responsibility for their learning outcomes.
2. Participate in setting academic & personal goals.
3. Create routines that will help them to make smoother transitions throughout the day.
4. Get self-motivated and become self-starters.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been a homeschooling mom for the past nine years. During this time, I have had to learn how to become my children's cheerleader, coach, teacher, and accountability partner. I have learned different ways to inspire my children to become self-directed learners and take some responsibility for their education. There have been some bumps in the road, but we have always bounced back and forged ahead with a fresh perspective and renewed enthusiasm. Therefore, I want to help you make this transition to homeschooling easier by providing your child with successful strategies that I have learned to help them to thrive throughout their homeschooling journey.
