This is a summer camp. This course will be for three days. In this course, your learner will learn what an adjective is and will practice describing things with adjectives. This course is camping themed, and we will be incorporating parts of a camping trip into our classroom. Each day will have a different topic. During our class, your learner will be learning through hands-on activities, games, and discussion. Your child is welcome to wear a camping outfit during our camp. Below is the breakdown of each day. Day 1: We're Going on an Animal Hunt We will be going on a walk in the forest today. Learners will learn that we can describe things by how they look. They will be using adjectives to describe color and size. As we walk through the forest, learners will be looking for animals. As we encounter animals, we will be using different adjectives to describe the animal. We will also be recording our adjectives into a chart. At the end of our lesson, students will draw an animal that they would find in a forest. They will describe the animal to the group by using adjectives. The class will guess the animal. Day 2: Let's Eat Some Yummy Food We will be focusing on the food we will eat in our campground today. Learners will learn that we can describe things by taste and smell. They will be using adjectives to describe how a food smells and tastes. We will brainstorm food that people bring camping. We will list adjectives to describe the smell and the taste for each food. The students will also create a s'more. As we make each part of the s'more, learners will record the smell and the taste of the graham cracker, marshmallows, and chocolate chips. Day 3: Explore the Campground We will be exploring our campground. Learners will learn that we can describe things by how they feel. We will be exploring things around our campground and describing how each thing feels. As we explore, we will draw a map of our campground and list our describing words. At the end of our lesson, learners will be give a picture card. They will list adjectives describing how the object feels.
Learning Goals
By the end of our camp, your learner will understand that an adjective describes something and that we can describe things by their look, smell, taste, and feel.
