Teens with ADHD and other learning differences find self monitoring, working memory, and task initiation challenging. Teens will have the opportunity to learn more about how executive function skills stay on track, remember what's important, and get started on tasks that they find hard or boring. Teens will improve their understanding of self monitoring, working memory, and task initiation. They will leave class with some concrete tools to practice self monitoring, improve their working memory, and tackle tasks that they may find boring or difficult.
Bridget Smith is a teacher and parent with ADHD. Her focus on Outschool is supporting students with ADHD, other neurodiverse learners, and students with learning differences. She has taught over 5000 learners with ADHD and executive function challenges here on Outschool. She is a credentialed teacher who has taught preschoolers through adult learners. Bridget is credentialed by the State of California to teach K-12 Students.
Class supports executive function development in neurodivergent learners including autistic learners as well as those with ADHD and anxiety. Templates are provided in PDF and Google Doc form to support dyslexic and dysgraphic learners.
Please try to print out any handouts or guides posted in the Outschool classroom before class begins. Whenever possible, I also try to offer alternatives such as Google Doc versions. It is a good idea to have a pen or pencil, paper, and colored markers or colored pencils available at every class.
