ADHD Brain Games - Summer Camp -Theme 3: Planning and Organization

A perfect opportunity to learn and practice skills to help start the school year strong! This unique class meets four times a week. We'll learn fun strategies for the executive function challenges of planning and organization.

Students love to learn through play!   So why not make learning about ADHD and executive functions easier to digest by using play!

The Brain Games ADHD summer camp provides this for your student.

The session's focus is PLANNING AND ORGANIZATION

During each four-day /week group summer camp section, students will engage in a variety of challenges and games to practice skills related to this executive function topic of the week.  There are six different camp sections to choose from. In each session, we'll take a deep dive into one of the following executive functions that are related to ADHD challenges. Choose one or all, depending on your schedule.  The content does not build from one session to another:

The four-meeting sequence is outlined here:

Day 1 / 
Class Check-in
Mindfulness exercise
Introduction to the Executive Function: Planning and Organization
Demonstration of one of two organization strategies and a calendar planning strategy
Movement and practice one of the strategies
Break into teams to play a board game requiring planning skills.

Day 2
Class Check-in
Mindfulness exercise
Review of what we learned the day before about planning and organization skills
A brainstorm of the student's ideas to improve their planning and organization skills
Demonstration of a second organization skill
Movement break to rev up our attention
Hands-on activity making an "where things go" poster.

Day 3
Class Check-in
Mindfulness exercise
Review of what we learned the day before about planning and organization skills
Demonstration of a planning strategy
Movement break to rev up our attention
Work through the Escape room solving an organization problem scenario

Day 4
Class Check-in
Mindfulness exercise
Review of what we learned the day before about planning and organization skills
Survey students what they have learned and want to try out
Movement break to rev up our attention
Finish Escape Room activity
Celebrations

Most activities are in the digital format, but the campers may need to print a worksheet ahead of class or need to use some basic supplies such as colored pencils/markers, scissors, and glue.  A list will be sent to registrants prior to the start of camp.  

Students will be exposed to age-appropriate information about neurodiversity and/or ADHD challenges.  ADHD Coaching is not intended to be therapeutic or to replace professional support services.  The ADHD coach's role is to facilitate self discovery and practrice of strategies that help one address executive function challenges as they relate to ADHD. The camper should be aware of what ADHD is and they have a diagnosis or are in process of having a professional evaluation regarding their challenges.

This class is designed to accommodate students with a variety of learning needs. We engage learners using graphics and appropriate pacing to ensure student participation and comprehension.
Parental Guidance
Students will be involved in age-appropriate discussions about neurodiversity and/or ADHD challenges. Pre-Requisites
A general understanding of ADHD, Autism Spectrum, or a brain-based learning challenge.
Supply List
A list of useful supplies will be provided at the start of each camp session.
