ADHD and Executive Function Skills for Success: Note Taking Methods and Practice Ongoing for Neurodivergent Kids
In this ongoing class students will try out various note taking techniques by taking notes on fun and interesting presentations designed to engage their busy brains. This class is especially helpful for neurodivergent learners and learners with ADHD in order to improve focus and support working memory through note taking.
Class experience
This ongoing class is designed support students in developing their notetaking, reading, and listening comprehension skills. Each session offer students opportunities to learn and practice notetaking strategies. Each class will begin with a mini lesson on a notetaking strategy that is effective for neurodivergent students with ADHD or learning disabilities. Students will have the opportunity to learn, practice, and evaluate a variety of note taking strategies.
Bridget Smith is a teacher and parent with ADHD. Her focus on Outschool is supporting students with ADHD, other neurodiverse learners, and students with learning differences. She has taught over 1000 learners with ADHD and executive function challenges here on Outschool. She is a credentialed teacher who has taught preschoolers through adult learners. Bridget is credentialed by the State of California to teach K-12 Students.
Sometimes handouts in the form of graphic organizers, articles or excerpts for reading, or note taking sheets will be posted for print out before the class meeting. Pens, pencils, paper, and colored pencils or pens are always handy to have available for my classes. Highlighters and post it notes may be used for some sessions.
