This one-time class will be a fun and active story time! We will be reading and acting out the story, "Once Upon a Unicorn Horn" by Beatrice Blue. I will be engaging children throughout the story by asking questions, prompting actions to match the story and using different voices. This story is about a little girl who meets a horse who cannot fly like the other magical horses. Throughout the story, June tries to help her friend find his magic again, where they both discover that we have all of the magic we need inside of ourselves. At the end of the story, the horse is finally able to turn into a unicorn! There is an excellent message to this story, which I like to discuss with children at the end of class. My teaching style is very active, animated and inclusive. I love getting children just as excited as I am to use their imagination and immerse themselves into a story. At the end of this story we will discuss what the story was about, likes/dislikes, and I will prompt specific questions about the main characters/plot.
Learning Goals
Students will foster their imagination, improve their communication and inference skills, boost their listening abilities and build their confidence in my classroom!:)
