Class Experience

Welcome to our Acting & Skit Club!

Each week we will have a chance to laugh together and share our acting and comedy skills within the structure of a skit, which we will create based on a famous work of art. You may scroll to the bottom of this description for a list of the works of art that will serve as inspiration each week.
We will practice and perform as a group. Some weeks we may have chances to work in a spotlight with a partner. In addition, learners will always get to choose whether they want to take the opportunity to share in the spotlight as a "solo performer."

A typical day in class:
- Meredith will welcome the actors, share the famous art work of the week, and explain and demonstrate the basic idea of the skit.
- Learners will contribute ideas for characters and stories for our skit.
-We will use at least one idea from each learner in the group as we act out our skit.
-If applicable, learners will have the opportunity to perform the scene with a partner if they choose.
-If applicable, learners will have the opportunity to perform a part of the skit as a "solo" if they choose.
-We end the class with compliments and give ourselves a big round of applause!

Here is a list of famous art pieces that will inspire our skits for each week:

SEPT 6: "The Starry Night" by Vincent Van Gogh
SEPT 13: "Moonwalk" by Andy Warhol
SEPT 20: "Neapolitan Meringue" by Wayne Thiebaud
SEPT 27: "Double Portrait" by Inez Nathaniel Walker
OCT 3: "Still Life with Parrot" by Frieda Kahlo
OCT 10: "Empress of the Blues" by Romare Bearden
