This class is the third in a 3-part series designed to help learners develop the skills they need to take on any acting challenge. Our definition of acting in these classes is "behaving realistically in imaginary circumstances." In the first two classes, we used lectures, games, activities, and simple scenes to learn about different acting concepts. In this class, we will be taking all of the knowledge gained in the first two classes (plus some new information) and using it to prepare,...
In this class, students will learn how to apply acting concepts to scenes from a full one-act play. They will also learn techniques for memorizing lines, how to consider the audience's perspective while performing, and how to give/receive constructive criticism. This class will prepare students to be the kind of responsible and creative actors that directors love to work with in fully produced plays.
Miss Jordyn is a professional actor with a strong theatrical background. She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Theatre and has worked professionally onstage, offstage, and backstage as an actor, director, stagehand, and theatre instructor. She has worked on over 50 theatre productions and loves sharing her passion for acting with her students.
Learners will be expected to be fully memorized and prepared to perform their scenes for each other by the end of the last day of class. If they are unable to complete analysis work or memorization work in class, they will be asked and expected to complete it on their own in between classes.
Learners will be asked to print out (or copy by hand into a notebook) an acting scene and a character analysis worksheet. These materials will be posted to the classroom after the first day of class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
